LENTICULE® Discs
Microbiological Reference Material for Internal Quality Control
Quantitative NCTC LENTICULE discs, manufactured by the Health Protection Agency's regional microbiology laboratory in Newcastle, are an easy to use source of reproducibly quantified, biologically active micro-organisms in a solid, water-soluble matrix. NCTC LENTICULE discs represent a simple and practical tool that can be incorporated into a laboratory's routine internal quality control programme thereby ensuring that any tests performed give accurate and reliable results.
Each batch of NCTC LENTICULE discs is manufactured from a single subculture of a traceable NCTC strain, ensuring that the characteristics of the original strain are preserved, and carefully controlled manufacturing systems ensure that the number of microorganisms recovered from a NCTC LENTICULE disc falls within a defined range when appropriate culture conditions are used. Each NCTC LENTICULE disc is individually packed, which means that only sufficient units for immediate use need to be withdrawn from storage.

Format
NCTC LENTICULE discs are supplied in packs of 25 units, each comprising a single disc sealed in a screw-capped tube containing desiccant (see image above). Each pack comes with easy-to-follow instructions (available in 5 languages) and a batch data sheet.
Storage
Upon receipt, NCTC LENTICULE discs should be stored at -20°C ± 5°C. However, short periods at ambient temperature do not affect viability, so transportation does not require temperature controlled conditions.
NCTC LENTICULE discs are supplied with an expiry date of a minimum of three months from date of purchase, assuming correct storage conditions are maintained.
Price
All cultures are priced at £75 per pack of 25 discs, excluding VAT.
Import Permits
For delivery to the USA a CDC import permit is required. For delivery to Canada an import permit from Health Canada is required.
