Cell Line Identity Verification Service

There is growing recognition of the need to authenticate cell lines and the potentially devastating consequences of working with misidentified or corrupted material. ECACC provides Cell Line Identity Verification as a service. Checking the identity, purity and species of cell lines provides cell culturists and researchers with confidence in the validity of their work. Cell line verification is also an increasingly significant concern of, and becoming a requirement stipulated by, research funding bodies.

The two main methods of authentication offered by ECACC are DNA profiling and isoenzyme analysis. For detailed information on the methods and how to submit samples for testing follow the related links provided on this page.

Authentication Method & Sample Numbers Price
Species verification by Isoenzyme Analysis
4 enzyme studies (2 controls), up to 4 samples
£900
DNA Fingerprinting (Multilocus probes) up to 4 samples £1350
Microsatellite Genotyping (PCR based) per sample £160
