Isoenzyme Analysis of Cell Lines

Isoenzyme analysis is a technique to determine the species of cell lines. This was offered as part of our Cell Line Verification Service but has been superseded by DNA barcoding which we now offer as a service to speciate cell lines.

For Reference:

Isoenzymes can be used to identify a variety of species. Isoenzyme analysis looks at a range of enzymes which are present in nearly all species but demonstrate heterogeneity between species as seen by electrophoresis. By analyzing these isoenzyme profiles and comparing the migration patterns with known standards and controls it is possible to speciate cell lines.

The isoenzymes used in this assay are;

Aspartate aminotransferase
Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
Lactate dehydrogenase
Malate dehydrogenase
