How to Use ECACC Genetic Support Services
When planning to use ECACC Human Genetic Support Services; whether for preparing and storing PBLs or EBV transformed cell lines, or for DNA extraction from blood, the first step is to contact ECACC directly to discuss your specific requirements. Information gathered in this discussion will then be used to compile a specific quotation
For large numbers of samples collected as part of an ethically approved study:
Upon written acceptance of the quotation, a Service Agreement will be prepared detailing the services to be provided by ECACC and requesting basic information about the study. In order to comply with the Human Tissue Act 2004, evidence of Research Ethics Committee approval and a specimen copy of the detailed patient consent form for the study must also be provided.
A signed copy of this agreement, complete with a Purchase Order number is a prerequisite for ECACC to accept any samples.
For small numbers of samples, not part of an ethically approved study.
Please contact ECACC directly before collecting any samples, to inform us of your intention to send a blood sample. Each sample must be accompanied by a completed Human Genetic Support Services (HGSS) Deposit form and a Purchase Order number. See "How to send samples to ECACC Human Genetic Support Services" for details
Please complete all relevant sections of the Deposit form, including requirements for the sample, and the section regarding evidence of patient consent.
Evidence of patient consent must be provided for each sample in order to comply with the requirements of the Human Tissue Act 2004.
If you have never deposited samples with ECACC, you will also need to complete a Customer Registration form, giving details of the individual at your organisation to whom invoices should be addressed, together with a Purchase Order number.
Please Note:
The customer is responsible for the unique identification of all blood samples sent to ECACC Genetic Support Services and should not supply any information by which an individual subject could be identified
You must immediately inform us, in writing, of the unique identifier of a subject who the Depositor Institution deems to have withdrawn their consent.
